What we do:
Sahale specializes in the design, engineering and construction of trail, long span suspension and cable-stay bridges. Our range of operation extends beyond the US, and our bridges range in scale from pedestrian to heavy vehicle bridges, which can be AASHTO or ADA compliant.
ENGINEERING & DESIGN
Sahale has an engineering and design team with ** years of collective experience. Sahale is a strong player in the engineering market for bridges ranging from light-weight trail bridges to heavy vehicle backcountry bridges.
AASHTO & ADA COMPLIANCE
Sahale has the flexibility to meet your specific requirements, whether they include ADA compliance, AASHTO light vehicle or AASHTO heavy vehicle specifications. Railing, decking and slope can all be customized to fit the standards of the ADA and the supersturcture of your bridge can be engineered to withstand whatever loads you require.
BRIDGE INSPECTION
Sahale is glad to inspect your bridge if its structural integrity is in question. We are able to determine its level of safety, and the quickest and most efficient means of restoring the integrity of the structure.
BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Sahale has built over ** bridges, many in very remote areas. We specialize in constructing custom bridges that fit the location, environemnt, and aesthetic parameters of the client.
EMERGENCY BRIDGE STABILIZATION
Sahale is able to respond rapidly to stabilize a bridge with compromised structural integrity. Our quick response team can minimize the damage and cost of repair if the instability is neutralized quickly.
TRAIL PLANNING & DESIGN
Sahale has deep roots in trail design and trail system planning. With Sahale's assistance, your trail system will fit the landscape and you end users with ease, while minimizing environmental impact.
TRAIL CONSTRUCTION
Sahale has the experience in trail construction that most other bidding parties lack. Sahale has built over ** miles of expertly crafted trail with minimal impact on the environment.
MASTER PLANNING & PERMITTING
Sahale is glad to help you navigate your specific maze of permitting and planning to get your project moving forward. Our experience working through the permitting process with agencies at every level could be your best asset.
SUSPENSION BRIDGES
Our suspension bridges are our hallmark. A suspension bridge typically has two towers and two mainline cables that are anchored some distance behind the towers. A suspension bridge is typically the most cost effective means of spanning distances over 100 feet.
ULTRA-LIGHT SUSPENSION BRIDGES
For hard to reach locations, lighter budgets and fast installation, the Ultra-Light Suspension Bridge can be a shoe-in. This is an ideal choice when ADA requirements are not applicable and you want a safe and sound "Up In The Air" experience.
CABLE STAY BRIDGES
A cable stay bridge typically has two towers, several cable stays and two backstays for each tower. They provide the deck with more direct support, reducing the movement in the bridge. They are especially well suited for locations with limited room for anchorage.
STRINGER/BEAM BRIDGES
For bridges under ** feet, a stringer bridge (or beam bridge) is most efficient. It requires no towers or anchorage, and provides a very rigid deck.
TRUSS BRIDGES
There are a multitude of truss bridge designs, the most common being the Warren Truss. Stand-alone truss bridges perform best at lengths of **-** feet.
SUSPENDED TRUSS BRIDGES
A cross between a suspension bridge and a truss bridge. A suspended truss bridge can vault further than a stand-alone truss and is more rigid than a suspension bridge, and is most effective for lengths of **-** feet.
SUSPENDED ARCH BRIDGES
An elegant solution for locations with little to no room for anchorage or an under-deck superstructure, a suspended arch bridge suspends the deck from an overhead rigid steel arch consisting of latice colums, steel tube or other structural steel shapes.
CANOPY WALK BRIDGES
Canopy walk bridges are light-weight structures suspended within the upper canopy of a forest, giving visitors a way to experience the flaura and fauna that live in the tree tops.
MANUFACTURED BRIDGE PACKAGES
Sahale is glad to deliver a manufactured bridge package to your site for installation by the party of your choice. This is one possible solution for clients with a large volunteer pool and/or access to their own experience base in bridge construction.
ENGINEERED TRAIL STRUCTURES
Sahale is well versed in engineering and installing trail structures of a wide variety. Curb steps, Benches, Signs, and Railings are but a few of the possible structure that could enrich the experience of your visitors.
GOLF COURSE BRIDGES
Sahale can taylor a golf course bridge to your exact specifications so that it can fit the architectural asthetic of the golf course and provide the travel width and load requirements specific to the needs of your patrons and matainence staff.
SELF-WEATHERING STEEL
Stronger than mild steel, Self-Weathering Steel (aka A-588 or Corten) is the perfect material for building sturdy, long-lasting structures that both look timeless and blend into the surrounding landscape. This is the standard material for all structural components of Sahale Bridges.
GALVANIZED STEEL
Galvanized Steel is the standard material for fasteners and other small bridge components, and can be used for structural members in marine environments.
TIMBER
Timber, either treated or milled on site, is a possible decking and/or railing material, but does not last as long as pultruded fiberglass decking or galvanized rand railing.
CABLE
Stainless Steel or Galvanized Steel Cable is commonly used in Sahale Bridges for Cable Stays, Suspension Mainlines, Suspenders, Diagonal Cables and Cable Railing Systems.
PULTRUDED FIBERGLASS
Pultruded Fiberglass is the standard material we use for Decking, as it is stronger, lighter and lasts much longer than wood.
USES
Sahale can custom build your bridge to fit any possible combination of uses. The load capacity, travel width and railing configuration can all be adjusted to fit your particular use criteria.
Why Sahale excels:
The strength to weight ratio of a Sahale cable bridge allows it to extend well beyond the limits of rigid bridge designs, and makes it particularly ideal for sites only accessible by trail or air. Sahale has frequently shown that the integration of planning, design, engineering and construction results in the most cost effective, eco-friendly and well-built bridges available.
